Minnesota EMS Honor Guard

Roseau Ambulance, Roseau, MN

Terry Lee Pearson

"There should be honor given when a person dies in the line of duty while helping others." Governor Tim Pawlenty ordered U.S. flags and Minnesota State flags to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol for a 24-hour period. This was to honor Terry Lee Pearson, an emergency medical worker who died in the line of duty."

Terry Lee Pearson, 48, died in the line of duty on January 4, 2005. He was killed when the ambulance he was driving crashed into a garbage truck. Weather conditions were bad, with ice on the roads at the time of the accident.

Mr. Pearson had been a volunteer emergency medical technician for Roseau Area Hospital Ambulance since 2001. He also worked with the Tri-County Ambulance. Terry helped teach CPR and was the recipient of a Golden Stork Award. Local ambulance squads, fire, and law enforcement agencies came to honor one of their own.

"So many came to honor him, he would have been so proud," said a co-worker. I am so proud of this State's recognition of the work these heroes achieve."

Honored 200
